Executive in Residence
The mission of the Executive-in-Residence Program at Shenandoah University is to enhance the academic excellence of the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business through the practical experience of a veteran business executive. As a faculty, we believe students deserve a school that has built strong relationships with the business community and assists them in their transition process to the business world.
Our current Executive-in-Residence is William Brandt, co-founder, former CEO and chairman of American Woodmark. Bill earned his MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth and came to Winchester in 1973 to work for the Boise Cascade Company. In 1980, he led a leveraged buyout of the business. Today, the sales volume of American Woodmark is $800 million. He has been involved with Shenandoah University since the early 1980s, having served as a trustee for over 20 years. Currently, he serves as chair of the Long Range Planning Committee of the board of trustees and chair of the Byrd School Advisory Board. His primary focus is to serve as a resource to students for better understanding the business world as well as a resource to the faculty, to provide teaching assistance where appropriate, and to be a resource to the dean in developing and promoting the school.
